Crane To Host Science & Engineering Fair

The 20th Annual Crane Division Science and Engineering Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Crane gymnasium. As in past years, cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category.

NOTE: Special prizes will be awarded for the following:

American Society of Naval Engineers - best project in the Junior Division and Senior Division that uses the best engineering Principles.
Federally Employed Women - award to a female participant for the best project in the Senior Division . 
South Central Association for Clinical Microbiology - certificate to the best Junior Division Project, and $50 and a certificate to the best Senior Division Project in Microbiology (medicine & health categories also included).

Students in grades 9-12 will be entered in the Senior Division, and students in grades 7 and 8 will be entered in the Junior Division. Participants should bring a lunch. A limited menu of sandwiches and soft drinks are available from the gym's snack bar.

The schedule for the fair is as follows:

7:30 am - 9:30 am Registration and set-up of projects
9:00 am - 11:45 am Judging
11:45 am - 12:15 pm Lunch
12:15 pm - 1:15 pm Presentation of awards
1:15 pm - 1:45 pm Teardown and departure

Please carefully review the International Rules for Pre-college Science Research: Guidelines for Science and Engineering Fairs and submit any required documentation for student entries. This and other publications are available at http://www.sciserv.org/isef/. Projects not in compliance with these requirements are subject to disqualification. Teachers should make a special effort to ensure that their students understand and follow the rules. To register, please complete the registration form and process as instructed (PDF Format).

Deadline for registration is Thursday, April 3, 2003.


***This year, due to increased security and space limitations, the fair will be limited to the first 220 entries received in the mail (not e-mail or fax). Only the first 220 entries received before the entry deadline will be accepted. Entries not received by the deadline or that are not received in the first 220 entries will be notified by mail of their ineligibility to participate in this year's fair. Please ensure that forms are legible and complete or they will not be considered. Please Note: If there is a requirement to go to an increased security status at NSWC Crane, this event or access to NSWC Crane may be cancelled without prior notice.
